DIR / Floortime

DIR stands for Developmental, Individual Differences, Realtionship-based. This comprehensive developmental framework was developed by Stanley Greenspan, M.D., and Serena Weider, Ph.D. This approach is respectful, yet challenging, and it encourages the child to cope with a variety of emotions and sensations while maintaining various relationships. The most well-known component of this approach is Floortime. Floortime is the heart of DIR and involves intensive work between the child and parents and therapists. It is a systematic way of working with a child to help him climb the developmental ladder.
