Occupational therapists use purposeful activities to enhance or restore
function so that an individual may participate in self-care, work/academics,
and play/leisure activities. "Occupation" refers to any activity in
which an individual engages. OT evaluations may include assessment
of an individual's motor skills (gross motor, fine motor, visual motor,
oral motor), sensory processing, activities of daily living, the environment,
play skills and personal interactions.
